St. Paul MN Hotel Guest Comments

“I love this hotel. I've stayed here several times and I know the St. Paul area very well. I'd say this hotel is absolutely the best location for business or vacation travelers to the area. Why? Because you can walk across the street to the Excel Energy Center, plenty of nice restaurants, all the nightlife St. Paul has to offer (which is not much), and bars. You can even walk into downtown without the need for a cab.

It's basically in the heart of everything that happens in this town.“

“My parents were recent guests at your lovely hotel. They are getting on in years and have traveled the world. They were in town for a recent medical appointment and after picking them up from the airport, as usual, I hear about the events while they were away. The mention over and over about a wonderful man that works at your 7th Ave property in St. Paul, Minnesota named Tim. He was 40 to 50ish in age and helped them on two occasions. Once was with a television problem in their room and another time picking them up from a doctor visit in the hotel shuttle. He even refused a tip, telling them it was his pleasure to have met them. They also had a wonderful conversation, I was told. They talked about him longer than they did about any other event during their stay in Minnesota!

I wanted to pass this on. He made quite an impression and represented your hotel to the tenth degree.
Well done Holiday Inn, thank you for employing such a terrific guy!“

“"Excellent hotel in a fantastic location”

My kids and I went to a concert at the Xcel and stayed at the Holiday Inn when it was over. You cannot get any closer than this for an event at the Xcel. It was extremely convenient. The restaurant in the lobby does room service very late into the evening which was convenient since we did not have time for dinner before the concert and I'm way too cheap to buy food at the Xcel. We did not spend a lot of time in the room but it had everything we needed. The pool was nice and quiet in the morning when we went down.“

“Staff was very helpful and friendly. Free shuttle bus service was a wonderful bonus, since I was not familiar with the city.

Had a lovely stay at the Holiday Inn St. Paul Downtown. My room was quiet, clean, and comfortable, and included a good-sized fridge and a microwave. Pool and hot tub were clean and in good condition. Had a great breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. Our server was friendly and helpful, and our food was served quickly. Would definitely stay here again.“

““Very clean.”

Reviewed January 1, 2013

I am not a clean freak but I wondered why this hotel room felt cleaner. Linen and bed even smelled great, pillows could NOT have been smaller. Front desk was a pleasure to deal with. We had food and drinks in the Pub both were great, and they were busy. Parking was way to easy. Hallway carpet looks new, rooms were fresh. Great stay!“

“Stayed at the Holiday Inn St Paul Downtown Oct 1 & Oct 2. I flew in for a ‘Prairie Home Companion’ show on Sat Evening Oct 2. My flight arrived at MSP at 8:30am and I was at the hotel by 9:15am. I knew all the area hotels were booked solid due to the Twin-City marathon. I had reservations but check-in was not until 4pm. To my surprise and delight they had my room ready and I was able to check in. This allowed me to explore St Paul with no worries about my luggage or time.“

“Recently my wife and I were looking to combine a short getaway with some work travel in the St. Paul area. While looking for a hotel that was located in the city (instead of some far-flung suburb) and was not extremely pricey, we stumbled across the Holiday Inn St Paul Downtown. What we found was a functional hotel with a great location across from the Xcel Center and just a short walk from the many restaurants and coffeeshops that are springing to life just west of downtown St. Paul.

Once we arrived at the hotel, we found your standard downtown Holiday Inn. The rooms were comfortable, were somewhat spacious (for a downtown hotel,) and had nice views of the surrounding neighborhoods and river bluffs.“

“Excellent affordable hotel for attending events in downtown St. Paul. A snowstorm extended our wonderful stay for an extra two days due to cancelled flights and the Holiday Inn staff accomodated us with no issues. Room service breakfast from the Liffey is first rate.“

“We've been staying at the hotel the last 4 years during the Big Ice Fishing Show the 1st full weekend of December. It's in a great location just a block from the front doors of the River Center and located across the street from the Excel Center. Good value for the location. Parking ramp is handy because of parking issues down town.
Room Tip: One side looks at the Cathedral and other side looks over the Excel Center. 5th floor and up help for scenery.”“

“Stayed here one night for business. Across the street from Xcel EnergyCenter. The night I stayed, there was a Minnesota Wild hockey game, so lots of activity at night (I went to the game). Very nice front desk staff. Bed was very comfortable. Had a king bed room on the 8th floor. Parking was $14. Computer in lobby to print stuff if you need to.“

“I stayed at this hotel because it was close to the Excel Center for a concert I went to. The management were great at keeping things quiet at the hotel after the concert, they mentioned they hired security to allow their guest a peaceful stay. Usually guest at hotels after a concert can be pretty wild but we never heard any problems. The hotel is very nice, and in a very good area of town. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I would stay here again when I'm in St. Paul!“

“We found the service attentive, courteous, and professional. My wife had to stay for more than a week, and thanked me on numerous times for selecting Holiday Inn River Center. The amenities were basic, it's Holiday Inn. However, the service was superior. The front desk, maids, and auxilary staff were fantastic. I had initally booked at a more upscale hotel, but I am glad we chose this Holiday Inn! We have another trip scheduled for the late Spring, and we are booking this hotel!“

“We had a perfect stay.
We will definitely be back. The Holiday Inn St. Paul Downtown is my home away from home in St. Paul.“

“We have stayed here several times when my wife and I were attending Xcel Center events.
The hotel is well kept and staff very accommodating. Reasonably priced for its location. The pool is quite small, but then we are downtown.
The best part is The Liffey, an authentic Irish pub on the first floor. Nice beer selection, great ambience and friendly staff. All this and you are a two minute walk from front door of the Xcel Center.“
